Our Company
Amax games is a small family owned and ran company looking to dip their toe into the independent gaming market. We are currently a team of 2 founder/investors who are looking to break into the gaming market.
We are currently focused on learning about the gaming industry and to create new games for initially the Android and Apple platforms with PC/consoles a possibility in the future.
Our games will be funded via ads, though we strive to not have a ad carousel with game breaks as per the normal mobile gaming model these days and we do not intend to crucify our users with micro transitions that are not so micro. Our aim is to be ethical and transparent.
We will provide free updates, and also some DLC, these will take the format of Splatter packs for blood (ensuring minors without credit cards cannot get the patch).
John Maxwell (Founder/Developer)
Straight out of School and looking for anything to do, John clicked on the first college course in the list (which happened to be computing). After completing his HND at Glasgow Central College of Commerce, John attended Glasgow Caledonian University to study Software Development, having found a love for coding at college. During this time he took a part time job in retail, which ended up turning into a full time job after Uni. After moving through the ranks at this company (CTM - Team Manager) over 12 years, it was time to leave for a better opportunity. Currently working for another retail company, John has fell in love with coding again.
Davie Maxwell (Founder/Developer)
Davie's story of how he got here is rather long and boring, but hey you clicked on the about page right? So you have time to kill.
After completing a Diploma in Software Development, Davie tried to get jobs in the Software Development field, but found a lot of things working against him. Initially it was experience or lack there of, being fresh out of college but it went a step farther as he was being offered programming jobs, but the pay was shocking. 2 Job offers received (this is nearly 30 years ago at this point) were £4.25/hour and £4.50/hour and at the time you could do a no stress customer service role for a satellite TV company and make £5.50/hour. Davie took the more money route, and worked CS for quite some time before moving to cloud computing support with the first company to allow using grid computer, then with a telecom company and now works for the finance industry doing support.
It is insanity that you can spend years of your life training for something that you end up not using, not to mention the financial cost.
So founding Amax Games brings him full circle and back to his programming routes. Though I'm not sure how good his Visual Basic, Pascal and Delphi knowledge will help him in his current endeavours!
